Mobile FOBs are the resistance's forward operations system. Instead of static flag-based bases, you deploy truck-based mobile command centers that can be positioned strategically across the battlefield.
A Mobile FOB is a specialized truck that can transform into a fully functional forward operating base. When deployed, it provides:
- Fast travel destination for all resistance members
- Respawn point option (can be set as "home")
- Building capabilities - construct tents, equipment boxes, and defensive structures
- Garrison point - station a group of soldiers there
- Strategic positioning - deploy almost anywhere except near bases and radio towers
- Mobile operations - undeploy and relocate as tactical situations change
Mobile FOB trucks are available at:
- Civilian vehicle stores (car dealership icons on map)
- Garages at captured bases (procurement option)
- ~$5,000 base price
- Cost scales with difficulty setting
- Significantly more expensive than regular vehicles due to their strategic value
Mobile FOBs are restricted by default:
- Default: the server option
mobileFOBOfficersOnly is on, so only officers can buy and deploy Mobile FOBs
- Servers that turn it off let any player buy and deploy them
- Drive to desired location using the Mobile FOB truck
- Position carefully - you cannot move the truck once deployed
- Use "Deploy FOB" action at the rear of the truck
- Deployment effects:
- Truck becomes locked and immobilized
- Camo net and resistance flag are erected
- Whatever the truck was carrying is moved into the deployed FOB
- FOB becomes active for building and fast travel
A Mobile FOB cannot be deployed:
- Near any base - occupying faction or resistance held, and the distance comes from the difficulty settings plus a fixed 50m buffer
- Within 70m of a radio tower - again, whoever holds it
Both restricted areas are drawn on the map, so a site can be checked before driving out to it. The game refuses the deployment and tells you which rule stopped it.
- Deploy in towns - establish presence in populated areas
- Near buildings - use existing structures for cover
- Tactical positioning - choose optimal locations for specific operations
- Multiple FOBs - deploy several FOBs simultaneously across the map
- All resistance members can fast travel to any deployed Mobile FOB
- Access via Overthrow menu → Fast Travel → click near the FOB location
- No ownership restrictions - team-based asset, with no private setting of the sort a camp has
- Set any deployed Mobile FOB as your respawn location
- Use "Set as Home" action at the deployed FOB
- Respawn here when killed
Once deployed, you can construct:
- Recruitment tents for cheaper AI recruit hiring
- Medical tents and other support structures
- Guard towers and bunkers for defence
Building costs money and nothing else: there is no separate stock of materials to gather first. Smaller items such as equipment boxes, sandbags and floodlights come from the Place menu rather than the Build menu.
- About 100m around the deployed FOB, for both placing and building
- A location can also hold only so many placed and built items in total, which the server's configuration sets
The FOB menu can station a group of soldiers at the FOB. They are paid for out of your own money and drawn from the supporters of the nearest town, so garrisoning eats into the support you have built there. Camps and captured bases take garrisons the same way.
Officers can designate Priority FOBs for enhanced visibility:
- Action on back of deployed Mobile FOB (officers only)
- Select "Set Priority FOB" action
- Only one Priority FOB can exist at a time (setting a new one removes the old designation)
- Enhanced map visibility: Different icon visible at all zoom levels
- Strategic coordination: Clearly marks primary operational base for the faction
- Command focus: Helps coordinate team operations around a central point
- Priority FOBs: Always visible, with their own icon
- Regular FOBs: Hidden when fully zoomed out, standard FOB icon
- Use "Undeploy FOB" action at the deployed Mobile FOB
- Automatic transfer: items from containers around the FOB are moved into the truck
- Structure removal: placed and built items within about 75m of the FOB are removed
- Truck restoration: Vehicle becomes mobile again with camo net and flag removed
- All items from Equipment Boxes within range
- Personal equipment left in containers
- Weapons and ammunition stored at the FOB
- All items in nearby parked vehicles
- Nearby bodies use the "Loot" option on the FOB instead
- All built structures (tents, barriers, etc.)
- All placed items (sandbags, floodlights, etc.)
- Tactical repositioning when enemy pressure increases
- Resource preservation - save equipment when relocating
- Operational flexibility - move FOBs to support different missions
- Multiple Mobile FOBs can be deployed at the same time
- No limit on number of deployed FOBs per player
- Team coordination - different players can deploy FOBs in different areas
- Only one deploy or undeploy operation can run at a time across the server, because the cargo transfer is shared; a second one is refused until the first finishes
- Distributed presence across the battlefield
- Tactical depth - multiple staging areas for operations
- Redundancy - backup positions if one FOB is compromised
- Specialized roles - different FOBs for different mission types
¶ The Occupying Faction and Your FOBs
The occupying faction comes to know where resistance camps and FOBs are, and sends troops out towards them when it has soldiers to spare. A FOB parked in the open is not a secret for long.
- Scout locations first - drive around to find optimal positions
- Consider accessibility - ensure team members can reach the FOB
- Plan for defense - use terrain and buildings for protection
- Think long-term - balance current needs with future operations
- Communicate deployment - inform team of new FOB locations
- Designate Priority FOBs strategically (officers only)
- Share resources - stock Equipment Boxes for team use
- Plan together - coordinate multiple FOB placements
