The difficulty setting in Overthrow does NOT affect enemy accuracy or AI response times etc. These can be changed in 'Addon Settings > VCOM Skills' in Arma 3. We set a default that we consider to be best for gameplay but you are free to alter as you wish. Note that VCOM overrides the vanilla "skill" settings in difficulty options at mission start.

On top of the usual Arma 3 difficulty options (set in the mission lobby), Overthrow has 3 difficulty presets. Their effect on the game is as follows..

Easy

Ideal for new players playing solo

  • Every player starts with a decent chunk of money, enough to buy a gun and ammo
  • QRF size will be small
  • No restrictions on Fast Travel with weapons or in an armed vehicle
  • Tax income is higher
  • NATO recovers slower, spends less on FOBs etc
  • NATO is less likely to use Tanks and Armored vehicles as you expand
  • NATO is less likely to respond to discovered threats and will take longer to do so

Normal

Ideal for new players in groups 2-4, or experienced players solo

  • Every player starts with $100, not enough to buy a gun (you can get one in the tutorial though)
  • Fast Travel will be restricted, you cannot use it while holding a weapon, but can use it in an armed vehicle
  • QRF size will be medium
  • Tax Income is medium
  • NATO may use Tanks and Armored Vehicles as you expand

Hard

Ideal for experienced players in groups, or badasses solo

  • Every player starts with $0
  • Fast Travel will be heavily restricted, you cannot use it while holding a weapon or in an armed vehicle
  • QRF size will be large
  • Tax Income is smaller
  • NATO will recover resources faster and spend more on FOBs etc
  • NATO will definitely use Tanks and Armored Vehicles as you expand
  • NATO is more likely to respond to discovered threats and will do so faster
